About AAUW Bakersfield
If you believe in equity for women and girls in the workplace, in school, or in retirement, AAUW Bakersfield is for you. If you like camaraderie, intellectual stimulation, and company of women who make a difference, then you will find yourself very much at home with AAUW Bakersfield.
Equity means freedom from bias or favoritism and includes the quality of being fair or impartial. AAUW Bakersfield, in coordination with AAUW California and AAUW National, advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research.
AAUW Bakersfield was founded on Dec. 10, 1925. This branch serves Bakersfield and Shafter in the state of California. We have much to offer our members, including programs and events, interest groups, and leadership opportunities.
The Bakersfield Branch also awards local scholarships for women to further their education at Bakersfield College and California State University, Bakersfield. In addition, branch members support Tech Trek. Tech Trek offers eighth-grade girls the opportunity to participate in an exciting STEM camp for a week during the summer.
