Membership
Founded in 1881, AAUW is the nation's oldest and largest organization working to promote education and equity for women and girls. The Bakersfield Branch, organized in 1925, is one of more than 1,600 branches nationwide, representing more than 160,000 members who seek personal lifelong development and advocate social changes and legal policy consistent with gender equity.
Eligibility
Membership is open to any graduate with an associate or equivalent or baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Undergraduates enrolled in such an institution may become student affiliates.
Membership is not by invitation. In principle and practice, AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership. There are no barriers to full participation in this organization on the basis of gender, race, national origin, creed, age, sexual orientation, or disability.
Though the branch year is July 1 through June 30, prospective members may join at any time during the year.
Annual Dues
Annual membership dues are $104. This includes $25 for branch dues, $20 for state dues, and $59 for national association dues. Lifetime membership in the national association is also available. More details on dues can be found here.
Branch student affiliate memberships, for students pursuing a bachelor's degree, are also available. Student affiliates may participate fully in all branch, state, and association programs.
