Holiday Donations
At our annual Holiday Tea we collected donations for the Salvation Army Toy Drive (December 2021).
Women's Equality Day 2021
We partnered with the League of Women Voters to celebrate Women's Equality Day (August 2021).
Women's March 2020
Once again we gathered with other women's organizations in the cold (January 2020).
2019 Installation Luncheon
Irene Heath had us all laughing as she installed the 2019-20 officers. The food and surroundings at Sonder were a real treat (June 2019).
Trivia Night Fundraiser
Our May intergenerational trivia night was a big success, earning money for Tech Trek and local scholarships. It was also a lot of fun, with members and guests of all ages answering questions about entertainment, history, sports, and more (May 2019).
Earth Day Cleanup
AUW Bakersfield members participated in the Keep Bakersfield Beautiful cleanup project in April 2019. Our group was assigned to pick up trash on a stretch of Highway 178. Volunteers received T-shirts for their efforts.
2019 Women's March Kern County
AAUW Bakersfield and Tech Trek had a booth at the second annual Women's March Kern County. The interactive booth, with games and social media frames, drew a good crowd. Visitors enjoying the gorgeous January weather stopped by to ask for information about our group, play Jenga, and take pictures (January 2019).
2018 Holiday Luncheon
Everyone always enjoys our annual luncheon at the historic Guild House. This year, we were entertained by a high school choir, and we had a fun gift exchange.

Tech Trek girls demonstrated some of their projects for AAUW Bakersfield members during the annual Fall Coffee at the Stockdale Country Club.

2016 Fall Coffee
We kicked off the membership year with the 2016 Fall Coffee, held once again at Seven Oaks Country Club. Turnout was wonderful, with members, guests, and our Tech Trek girls.
Tejon Ranch Tour
About two dozen members and guests enjoyed beautiful weather and bountiful wildflowers during AAUW Bakersfield’s tour of Tejon Ranch (April 2016).
2015 Fall Coffee
The Seven Oaks Country Club was the site of the 2015 Fall Coffee, which kicked off the membership year and marked the beginning of our 90th anniversary. We had a wonderful turnout, with members, guests, and community supporters.

We honored our past presidents in April. Ten were able to attend.
Women of Character, Courage, and Commitment
Two women who exemplify character, courage, and commitment, the theme of this year's Women's History Month, spoke at our March program. First up was Rachel Taylor of Taft College, who discussed the school's STEM program. Then Connie Perez, a CPA with Brown Armstrong, talked about her struggle as a Latina from a traditional household to get an education and move up the career ladder, and how she helps other young Latinas achieve their higher-education goals.
Our own Gayle Batey was a named gift honoree for her generous support of Tech Trek and local scholarships.
As an added bonus, the all-woman band Banshee in the Kitchen performed Celtic music on this weekend leading up to St. Patrick's Day.
And as always, President Brenda Haskell did a wonderful job decorating for the occasion. She even dressed as a suffragette!

2013 Holiday Tea
This year's Holiday Tea at the Guild House included a drawing for the quilt donated by Nancy Rink and a special presentation by Kathryn Clowes of clothing worn by women during the Dickensian period.
Women's Equality Day 2013
We joined the League of Women Voters to celebrate Women's Equality Day 2013 with a multimedia presentation, "Fashion Through History 1890-1950." A large crowd turned out at the Seven Oaks Country Club as Kathryn Clowes of the Bakersfield Historical Costume Society discussed the evolution of women's fashion and models displayed authentic period clothing.
First 100 Years of Bakersfield College
Retired faculty member Jerry Ludeke discussed the founding of Bakersfield College at the Mercy Conference Center in March. The event was open to the public.
2012 Fall Coffee
We kicked off the membership year with a fun, informative gathering where interest groups were on display.
