Step One

January - February

Not just anyone can attend Tech Trek! In order to be considered to receive a scholarship to Tech Trek, students must first be nominated by their 7th grade math, science, or technology teachers.

Teachers throughout the southern San Joaquin Valley (including areas such as Delano, Wasco, Shafter, Buttonwillow, Lost Hills, Bakersfield, Taft, Lamont, Arvin, and Frazier Park) are allowed to nominate two of their students.

Step Two

February - March

Nominated students are sent a packet of information, including an application form and an essay prompt. Students must complete their applications and essays and return them to us before the specified deadline.

Once all the application packages have been received, our committee reviews everything and selects finalists to move on to an in-person interview.

Step Three

March

All finalists are interviewed in-person by a panel of committee members. In addition to learning more about all of the finalists, the interview provides an opportunity for students and parents/guardians to learn more about Tech Trek and ask questions of us.

After everyone has been interviewed, our panel will select students to attend Tech Trek and students to be considered alternate campers. Most finalists are quite nervous for their interview (after all, this may be their first interview ever) but our panel often finds this to be the most difficult part of the process because all students do so well!
