In consideration of the current health situation and in accordance with AAUW California and national policies, all meetings are virtual until further notice. Interest groups offer AAUW members an opportunity to do what they enjoy and to explore new interests. They provide a forum to meet other members and get to know them better. Each group is autonomous, choosing its own coordinator and setting its own program and schedule.
Membership in AAUW Bakersfield Branch is required for participation in interest groups. A non-member may be asked to participate as a guest on a temporary basis.

Book Group
Books are chosen for the year at the September meeting. A selected book is discussed each month. Some busy people attend the group just to hear the discussion. The group meets the second Tuesday of the month at 7 pm.
Bridge
This group meets periodically throughout the year to play the trick-taking card game.
Classic Films
Watch the chosen classic film on your own and then gather to discuss. This group meets quarterly and will always be virtual.
Dinner and a Speaker
Gather together for dinner followed by attending one of the BC Distinguished Lecture Series, or join us for one or the other. Schedule depends on the lecture schedule.
Great Decisions
Following the Foreign Policy Association model, this lively group meets at 6:30 pm the first Thursday of the month to discuss world events.
Hiking
Enjoy the great outdoors with your fellow AAUW members. This group meets periodically throughout the year.
Leisurely Lunch Bunch
If you like to eat and socialize with other AAUW members during the day, this group is for you. It meets monthly at a different restaurant. Times and dates vary, but members usually meet around noon on the last Monday of the month for a leisurely lunch and great conversation.
